About the Author

Coaching Youth Soccer was written by the American Sport Education Program (ASEP) in conjunction with Sam Snow, director of coaching education for US Youth Soccer.

As a coach at the club, high school, collegiate, and Olympic development levels since 1974, Snow has worked as a US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program coach since 1979, as the director of coaching for the Louisiana Soccer Association (1993-2003), and as state staff coach with the Florida Youth Soccer Association (1979-1993). He was the men’s head soccer coach at Florida Southern College from 1980 to 1993 and has been a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America since 1979.

Snow earned a master’s degree in physical education from the University of South Florida, and he holds A and Y licenses as well as a goalkeeper level 2 certificate from the United States Soccer Federation.
