About the AuthorFounded in 1981, the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) is composed of nearly 5,000 members and associated with more than 20 other organizations. Nearly every major collegiate women’s basketball coach is a member. The WBCA’s mission is to promote women’s basketball by unifying coaches at all levels and to develop a reputable identity for the sport of women’s basketball. The WBCA also aims to foster and promote the development of the game in all aspects as an amateur sport for women and girls.The WBCA is also involved in several events and coaching clinics across the nation. One of these events is their annual convention held in conjunction with the Women’s NCAA Division I Final Four. Through these events the WBCA not only highlights exceptional talent among female players but also provides opportunities for coaches at all levels to improve their skills. In addition to the annual events that the WBCA produces and sponsors, the organization has three publications, Coaching Women’s Basketball, At the Buzzer, and Fastbreak Alert, which cover all aspects of women’s basketball from the high school level to the professional ranks.
